Big Sky Big Grass 2018 Winter Bluegrass Festival Festy GoNuts!

Duh. When Billy Strings is on the top of the list you know there will be some serious picking! Add in Leftover Salmon, Trout Steak Revival and The Travelin’ McCourys? Holy cow this is going to be good! But wait, there’s more! How about Larry Keel – with Keller Williams and The Larry Keel Experience! This is too good to be true! With Madison Range, Two Bit Franks, Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs, it’s hard to beat a bluegrass lineup like this one! 2. Access

Big Sky Resort boasts 5800 acres of skiable terrain! No wonder it’s billed as “The Biggest Skiing in America!” Four mountains connected by lifts, 7 terrain parks and 300 named trails with plenty of green, blue, black and double diamond, there is literally something for everyone. Throw in over 400 inches of average snowfall and some of the shortest lift lines in the world, and you will be shredding all day long!

Music doesn’t start until the early evening, so you won’t have FOMO while you’re on the slopes either.

Big Sky Resort has a ton of lodging options for every party. Throw a group into a large slope-side condo, or have a romantic getaway in a luxurious room in the Village Center. However long your stay, you won’t run out of dining options at Big Sky Resort. Literally dozens of bars, restaurants and cafes grace the mountain. You’ll find a beer and a snack at just about every turn! 5. Winter Activities

Sure, there’s plenty of music to catch at Big Sky Big Grass, but you’re at a world-class mountain – get out and explore! Aside from the skiing and snowboarding, there are a ton of activities to keep you busy. How about a snowshoe tour or dogsledding? Sleigh ride? Snowmobiling? The kids will love the rock wall, trampoline and giant swing. Everyone loves the ropes course! You can even zip-line over the mountain! Get out and get in it at Big Sky! 6. Bozeman, Montana

If you’re coming from afar, you will be flying into Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport, just a few minutes outside of Bozeman. If you haven’t been, you should definitely try to extend your trip to Big Sky Big Grass with a few days in Bozeman! With almost a dozen breweries in town, you can definitely spend a day tasting the local flavors. There is an abundance of museums if you’d like a little culture, or just walk the beautiful downtown and explore the shops. Since you are coming for live music, you can probably find a show or two while you’re in town as well! 7. The Venues

Big Sky Big Grass is taking place in several different venues at the resort. The Missouri Ballroom will feature The Travelin’ McCourys and Keller and the Keels, and Billy Strings with Leftover Salmon. The Talus Room at the Summit Hotel will provide a more intimate setting for Trout Steak Revival Revival and the Larry Keel Experience. The party will extend late into the evening with performances at Montana Jack Bar and Grill with Leftover Salmon, Billy Strings and Laney Lou. The best part? These venues are all a stone’s throw away from one another! 8. Leftover Salmon

Ok, it’s no secret that Festy GoNuts are pretty big fans of Leftover Salmon, but with very good reason! These guys have been around for a long time, and know how to make a party. Aside from the amazing talent onstage, when Vince yells “Festivaaaaaaallllll!” it is on! Leftover Salmon will kick off the party with a special evening in Montana Jack Bar and Grill. Trust us, you don’t get many chances to see these guys in such an intimate setting. We know from experience that most of Leftover won’t be content with just their stage performances, so look out for them to show up just about everywhere for some pickin’ and some Polyethnic Cajun Slamgrass!

If you haven’t yet seen Billy Strings, pay close attention! This kid can pick! He’s got an amazing band as well, and can easily take a bluegrass song to a whole new level. We’ll get to see Billy at Montana Jack later in the evening on Friday night, and then he’ll be playing the Missouri Ballroom on Saturday with Leftover Salmon. It’s a pretty sure bet that Billy Strings will join Salmon for a bit, and probably many other artists throughout the weekend. 10. Winter Music Festivals Rock!
